Brianza Wine Series:
French Rhone vs. Alta Colina Winery in Paso Robles

Brianza owner, winemaker, and sommelier, Tony Parnigoni, and his son Dallas, lead this Rocky vs Drago challenge. Dallas is the Head Winemaker for Alta Colina and joins the class via stream on the big TV. Alta Colina only produces wine from Estate grown Rhone varietals. Together we will try wines side by side and discuss the differences in soil, climate, and wine making technique.

The grape varietals and blends we will be sampling include:

  • Roussanne
  • Picpoule
  • Grenache
  • Syrah
  • Mourvèdre
  • Chateauneuf Du Pape

    We will also discuss what has driven the popularity of Chateauneuf Du Pape and the American alternative called GSM (blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre).
